Moodiness!

My afternoon yesterday just sucked! Cade was fighting with me about his homework and Analise wouldn't listen for anything and was into everything! I had read on Cheeto's facebook that he was having a bummer day so I was trying to make him some of his favorites, which in the end bombed anyway. #1 because he was having the bummer day 2 days ago and #2 what I made he wasn't too thrilled with. Oh well... can't win them all. It was the thought that counts- right?

This was my poor attempt cheering up my man!

Kelson on the other hand was doing everything he could to help me with Addelyn. She wasn't a happy camper for some reason. Kelson yells to me, "Mom- Addelyn is hungry! What are you going to do about that?" I was in the middle of something so I found one of the little hospital bottle samples for him to feed her. He was so thrilled to do this! Since I'm breastfeeding, she has never had a bottle. He was rubbing it in to the others that he was the first to feed her besides mommy! Kelson has such a compassionate heart!

Cade Received his Bobcat!

Cade got his first patch in Scouts. Last night he had a pack meeting and received his Bobcat. They do this thing were the mom pins it on them while they hold him upside down. When the do a good deed then they ask the mom to sew it on upside right. Cade had the giggles and made it difficult to hold. Congrats Cade! You are an awesome boy!

Thanks "Pippy"!

Our Cousin sent the girls these awesome Strawberry Shortcake shirts with matching pants. Analise was so surprised and in heaven. She requested one for her birthday and I couldn't find her one. Who would of thought that it would be the GAP that had them? Thank you Nippy! You're so sweet to think of us!

I almost forgot...

I can't believe I forgot to mention this! When we were in Atlanta, we walked passed a Bed, Bath and Beyond. Cheeto said lets go in and look. He then comes back with this popcorn popper. It's called The Whirley Pop. A good friend of ours has one and I love the popcorn it makes. So yummy! I have secretly wanted one for a couple of years but it never was a priority. I was thrilled that Cheeto thought of it. It was on sale and came with 3 popping kits. The kits aren't great but it was all we had to share with Marcos and Haley. I can't wait to pop the real stuff! Thanks honey- you're the bestest ever! I promise to share. ;)

Happy Birthday 34 Cheeto!

I wanted to try a new cake for Cheeto. He loves Oreos so I thought this would be perfect. It was good but not like his strawberry torte. Besides that... it was so time consuming that I hope that he never asks for it again. Analise was so excited to help me make it. Of course she had to taste test it. It looks like her whole face did! I think I got a little too much help. The cake was in pieces when I went to assemble it. Thanksfully it looked pretty good in the end.
It was pretty sad looking as I was putting it together. The 3 layer (instead of 4) Oreo cake!
Entirely made from scratch!
We had to celebrate a day late because we were traveling yesterday and we didn't get home in time for me to make his dinner and cake. I was also needing a day to get his present. However, it snowed overnight and the kids were out of school today. So I still didn't get his present but I did get his dinner and cake done.
Happy Birthday Honey! You are awesome! I hope it was a good one. For some reason you kept wanting me to forget it and not make it a big deal. I don't know why though. You know that I would never do such a thing. Kelson is so sad that you're not 33 anymore. He just loves that number!

Daddy's Girls!

When Analise and I wrapped Cheeto's present, I told her that presents are a surprise and you aren't suppose to tell anyone! When we brought it out she was doing so well. When Cheeto asked what it was she said, "It's a present!"
Well, Cheeto found a way to get it out of her... watch and see what I mean!

Hot-lanta

We have been talking to Haley and Tio about going to visit them in Atlanta, or from the mouth of Analise "Hotlanta." Cheeto and the boys all had Monday off for Martin Luther King day, so we thought having a long weekend would be the perfect time to go. Cheeto's birthday was also Monday so it was kind of celebrating that as well. It was decided spur of the moment. I started getting the house ready to leave Friday morning and then started packing. I don't like packing the last minute. I had a lot of help doing so. I turned around for a minute and Analise had dumped an entire dresser drawer of hers in my suitcase. ARGH!!! We made it out of the 'boro about 3:30pm. We stopped to eat about 2.5 hours into the drive at a Waffle House. The kids LOVE their Waffle House!
There were 3 booths together but an older couple was sitting in the middle one. We couldn't all fit in one so we divided the sexes. Boys in one- Girls in the other.
At one point, Cheeto came to talk to Analise in our booth. I sat and watched a few groups come and give Cade and Kelson a double take. It must be weird to walk in and see an 8 year old and 5 year old sitting alone at a restaraunt in the middle of nowhere.
Analise wanted some milk and boy did she get it! I was so worried she would wet the bed at Tio's house. We got to Tio's about 10pm. We stayed up checking out there house and running off some wiggles until almost 11:30pm. Cheeto and I were exhausted. We had plans to go to the temple in the morning since it was so close and I could feed Addelyn and still make it through a session. However, a few of our kids had other plans. Cheeto and I combined might have gotten 3-4 hours of sleep. We decided that sleeping through a session was a waste of our time and very rude! We slept in and hung out with the family. Marcos had plans to taking us to Fernberg Museum but the cost to get in was greater than what we wanted to spend so we just went to lunch instead. He took us to a fabulous burger joint called Five Guys.

Best hamburger I have ever eaten.

They had this sign up. I just had to take a picture for my dad and brothers! They had peanuts you could munch on at the table. Would you believe that Cade likes fresh peanuts? Who would have thunk it? After lunch we took the kids across the street to use some gifts cards at Barnes and Noble. This also made for some new reading for the trip home. We simply hung out at Tio's for the rest of the afternoon. This was great for us. We like to just rest and enjoy each other's company. As we were getting ready to leave for dinner the kids and Tio decided they want to play outside for a minute.

Tio has a swing hanging from this huge tree in his backyard. It swings out over a ledge so I wouldn't allow Analise on it but the boys loved it.

Just before walking inside they saw a few snowflakes. Background story: Thursday night Kelson came home from school insisting he had to the "Snow Dance" because his teacher told if you do it it would snow. I didn't want him to get his hopes up but we did the dance anyway. It's pretty much freestyle. :) You also have to flush ice cubes down the toilet. Well, sure enough a few flakes fell. It had started to snow in Atlanta! The kids got all excited and started flushing more ice cubes. And everytime they did so, it snowed bigger flakes. Crazy kids!
Well, after flushing cubes and watching the snow... we finally got to dinner at a place called the Majestic. It was good but not as good as Five Guys! That may just be my opinion!

We got home and Marcos started working on a fire in his fireplace to cook some smores. Marcos, my kids, and smores are something that finds their way together. The kids thought cooking smores inside the house was awesome. Messy- but awesome! I hope they don't ask me to do the same thing. It will be something "special" to do only at Tio's.

We put the kids to bed.....

and started playing guitar hero. I missed the picture of Marcos with his shirt off trying to look like the guy on the game. We took turns trying to pass all the songs. This was lots of fun. We stayed up until our eyes could no longer focus. Addelyn slept much better that night. There is church building really close to Marcos. Unfortunately, only a Spanish branch meets there. I slept until about 9am and figured since Cheeto was out of bed he had decided to let me sleep and fore go church.2 minutes later he comes up and says "Aren't we going?" I didn't think there was anyway we were going to get all of us ready in 45 minutes. It was miracle! We did it and made it to church only about 5 minutes late. Phew! The church was tiny and felt like we were in the ghetto but I was glad we made the effort. Some came up to us hoping we were move in's. It was a pretty small ward. We had the most kids there.
We got home to find that Marcos and Haley had already made dinner and just had to wait for it to finishing cooking. We napped for a bit then ate. Haley did a fabulous job cooking. That roast was divine! We then went for a long walk to a park. I just have to say- Atlanta has awesome-unique parks!
This was like a merry-go-round. I'm surprised my kids could walk straight after being on this for almost 30 minutes.
Addelyn was very content being snuggled in her sling next to me!

Marcos and Haley walked back and brought the van back so the kids wouldn't have to walk. It really was quite the trek for them. We got back to eat cake with Cheeto.
Haley had decorated this with what she had on hand. All we ask is that she doesn't teach how kids how to spell anything! :) It was so sweet of her to do so. She asked what Cheeto wanted on it and he just grabbed a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints and said use this. So she did! Cheeto was just kidding but it really was good!

wow... leave it to my funny husband to sing to himself and give out spankings as well.

By the time we gave baths and put on jammies it was time to watch the Steelers game. I was glad to see them win. It's funny that Cheeto isn't a bit more excited that one of his teams made it to the superbowl. It would be great if they won. Then the Steelers would have won the superbowl both years that we got our little girls. What a sweet memory that would be! I don't want to jinx anything though!
We got up and just took our time getting packed up. We left about 10:30am. The kids are great travelers. We had little fighting the entire weekend. We got home about 4ish and were grateful that G'ma and Papa followed through with monday night bean night.

Thanks Haley and Marcos for a fun trip! We hope that we didn't drive you crazy and we can come again.

Funny Kid Quote of the Day
While we at the park, some other kids were telling ours that they were from New Jersey. Cade says, "We are from Virigina." My reaction, "What the?" Then Kelson says, "My name is Kelson. 'This is my sister Sassy but sometimes we call her Analise." Reaction: the same- "What the?" Are my kids confused or what?

What a "sassy" thang!

Last week Analise got invited to a friends birthday party.
It was just up the road, so even though it was freezing I let her wear her new gear.
She was quite the cutie all dressed up- sunglasses and all!
Man- it's just fun to dress little girls!

Analise loves to be like mommy. She decided she was going to help me get Addelyn out of her car seat. I heard Addelyn making a few quiet grunts so I came to see what was up. This is what I found. I'm sure it was more that she couldn't see anything than Analise trying to get the cover off.
Addelyn has started to smile- especially for her Daddy!

Day of tears #2

So my day of tears is here again! Tomorrow will be better! I go through a cycle every time my parents come for a visit. I get so excited and on this high. I go crazy planning things for us do, go through the list of things to fix around the house that I need help from my dad, and of course, I go nuts cleaning. Then about 3 days in I get a bit overwhelmed with all the people in our little house. I get a bit grouchy but I it's mostly because at this point we are getting closer to the day when they have to board that dang plane and leave again. When the boys were younger it took them a couple of days to warm up to them. Analise is just the opposite. She is in their arms and chatting like crazy picking them up in the airport. Kelson and Analise both woke up this morning so sad to see the office empty and no grandma and papa. Analise cried for a papa hug and wanted G'ma to get her breakfast. Mommy just isn't the same. So here I am again thinking how spoiled I am with great parents. I'm not kidding... I have the best in the world!!!! I am so blessed to have parents that will spend the time and money to visit us so often. I have friends who leave here and rarely have their parents come see them.
We had such a great time. We played the Wii for hours. The kids loved this about my parents. Not many grandparents love to play video games with their grandkids. They took McDonald's to both of the boys for lunch yesterday- this just made their day. Dad was wonderful and helped us get a new TV up and running. Mom was my mom! She loves to do laundry and dishes. She helps me a great deal to stay on top of my housework while she is here. I try to let her sit and enjoy the kids because her time with them is so limited. I just can't get her to do it. She is not a sit-on-the-couch type of guest. This is so much better than the opposite. My pet peeve is when people come and just expected to be waited on and do nothing to help. She loved on the kids, read the stories. They both played so many board games with the kids. My kids love games! Just saying thank you doesn't seem like enough. I hope once they let go of the farm a bit more that they will be able to come out and stay more than a week. I pray by then we will have a bigger home with more space for them to settle in.

Funny Kid Quote of the Day
Mom and Dad took McDonald's to Kelson yesterday. One of Kelson's classmates asked my dad if he was Spiderman's grandpa. If you know my dad, of course, he said, "Yes!" She believed him. She asked him why he didn't bring Spiderman with him to lunch. Dad told her that he was downtown working on spitting his webs. She said she understood that. As they were leaving, she told him that the next time he comes he better bring Spiderman! Then she gave him a hug. Sweet gullible little girl!

Birthdays and Blessings

Yesterday was quite the day! Analise turned 3 and we blessed Addelyn. I found this dress for Analise after Christmas last year for $4- love a good deal. I didn't think it looked real Christmasy so I decided to save it for her birthday dress since her birthday fell on a Sunday. She was excited to have a new "princess" dress like Addelyn. Analise loves to dress up like a princess, however, I want all to know she doesn't get away with acting like a princess. She gets in trouble like all the other kids do! There is a difference! Contrary to what Grandma A thinks. Analise truly felt like a princess in her dress. I took her out of nursery to take her to the bathroom. She said, "Mommy, they didn't sing Happy Birthday to me!" I told her she probably would have to tell them it was her birthday. When she went back in she went running saying, "It's my birthday! Did you know that?" Of course they then sang to her. She then got all shy and such.

We found out last week we would have change the blessing plans a bit. It was ward conference yesterday and you can't bless a baby during ward conference. This was my parent's only Sunday to be in town for the blessing so we had to do it somehow. We decided to do it right after church in the RS room. We had to do this with Kelson because they were only out here on stake conference Sunday. Whatever works right? We invited some close family and friends to share the moment with us. This made the event a little more memorable. Thanks to all who made the arrangements to be there! My mom made her dress. Cheeto's mom crochet her blanket and I knitted her sweater. She is loved! Cheeto gave her an amazing blessing, as I knew he would. It's moments like these that I just LOVE that man! What a gift the priesthood is and how grateful am I to have a worthy man in our home to have that gift! I was doing great in the tear department until he started dropping a few. My boys are so lucky to have such a great father to look up to and aspire to become.
After church, we rushed home to take a few blessing pictures of the family Cheeto and I look so tired. We are need of some good sleep around here! We made enchiladas, rice and beans for dinner so the dinner was pretty much done. Thanks to Mom and Dad A! We got through dinner and present with a hitch. Analise got loaded with gifts. It was almost like Christmas for her again.

Her cake was lucky to make it. I made it Friday night before Cheeto's bball game. I left it to cool on the counter. Mom and I ran to Target so Cheeto and Dad brought the kids home. When I got home, Cheeto met me at the door with a look of, "I'm REALLY SORRY!" Analise was screaming in the background. Come to find out, Analise was hungry because she refused to eat her dinner and decided to eat her cake. She had taken handfuls out of the bottom of it! I was ticked! I thought about making another but decided against it. I froze it and would just decorate the top. I was so tired Saturday night and still needed to finish knitting Addelyn's blessing sweater. I decided to decorate it before church. That was a bit nerve racking. I was amazed we all got to church on time with some to spare. As you can tell, she requested a Strawberry Shortcake cake. If you ask her, it's Strawberry Cupcake. I found a coloring page online and used it as a template. I think it turned out pretty good. Not great, but good under the circumstances! We came back to our house to watch her birthday video. I do this for each of the kids on their birthdays. Cheeto brings home the projector from work so we can blow it up big on the wall. It's a fun tradition!

Analise got a truck load of Stawberry Shortcake stuff. Tio and Haley got her this headband. She put it Cheeto's head. Before we had the girls, I told Cheeto he would do things that he would never do just because he loves his girls. This must be one of those times. Here he is watching he Steelers win with a PINK headband on his head- PINK!

Panther Pride

As many of you know, Cheeto was searching and searching for Panthers Playoff tickets. Late Friday afternoon, a friend from church saw Cheeto's facebook and wanted to see what he could do. He came through. He had four tickets. He took a friend from work and gave two to Cheeto. Cheeto of course found a buddy to go as well. Cheeto could hardly stand the wait. He would have left at noon if I had let him. They all drove down together. I can't give you the details of the game like he could so you'll have to wait for his post to read about it. We had fun wearing all our gear. Perhaps that jinxed us. Friday night I had ran into Target to get a few last things for Analise's birthday and Addelyn's blessing. While there I found a 75% off rack with a Panther cheer outfit. It was on sale for $5. I couldn't resist! I had to get if, especially knowing I would get two uses out of it. We gave it to Sassy Saturday morning so she could wear it for the Panthers day. As I put it on her I realized it had a onsie under it. I thought strange to put a onsie with a 4T. Oh well... well, as my mom was giving her a bath last night she noticed that the dress said 24 months. I just trusted the hanger which said 4T. Note to self- don't trust the hanger... always, always check the tag!!!!!
Funny Kid Quote of the Day

Dia de los Reyes 2009

This is a Mexican tradition in our family. This is the best story I could find to explain it....

On the night, of January 5, the figurines of the Three Wise Men are added to the nativity scene. Before going to bed the children place their old shoes under their bed or in the living room, where the Wise Men will leave them their presents. Some also place outside the house, some hay and a bucket with water for the animals, and even some cookies and milk for Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar.

You can feel the excitement building up! With twinkling eyes, the children eagerly, and constantly ask what time it is, wishing for time to fly so they could open their presents.

Reluctantly they go off to bed.

As soon as they wake up, which is earlier than any other day, they run to see the gifts that the Three Magi left for them. Happiness overflows every Mexican home.

The children spend the day playing and admiring each others presents, sharing them with friends, talking about how they were able to hear or see the Reyes Magos when they arrived at their home, how one of them heard the camels footsteps, how the other saw a shining crown in the dark night!

Every year I remember all day that we need to take extra shoes to Grandpa A's house and every year I forget once I'm there so we still go home with only one shoe on. This year I thought I would be clever and program a reminder in my phone to help me. Did it work? NOPE! We all got over there and 2 of us came home completely shoeless. I had to stop on the way home and get out of the car so Cheeto was kind enough to leave both of his shoes for me. Kelson had on his school shoes so Cade left both of his play shoes. Analise had extra shoes to wear the next day at home and of course, Addelyn really didn't have a "need" for her shoes! We waited until the boys got home from school to go back to Papa's house. He was so cute and found pictures of all us and put them in each shoe to help us find our "present."

Funny Kid Quote of the Day
Iwas giving the boys haircuts and Kelson requested a "Daddy" cut, which basically means he wants it longer on top. I did as he asked. He was getting ready for church and he asks me,"Mom, would you put Jell-o in my hair for me?" He meant gel, of course! I spiked the front up some with the gel- not jello. At church he asks me, "Mom, is my hair still happy?" He thinks his hair is happy when it's sticking up.

Build-A-Bear

Tia Lettie started a tradition years ago with my boys. She takes them to Build A Bear and lets them pick an animal. She took my boys together, then A and M's boys together. She wanted to take the 'girls' together. So since Baby L was out here for Christmas she wanted to do it now. Analise loves her bear. She named her Alice. She chose hot pink bows for her ears. Alice has sparkles in her fur and is so so soft!

Bringing in 2009!

Ok, Ok... I know it's been FOOOOREEEEVER!!!! I was going to apologize and then realized that I have every right to be a slacker blogger. It has been so crazy around here. I am the type of person that once I get an idea in my idea I can't stop until it's done. So I'm going to go back and blog the past couple of weeks. And like Cheeto says, it's more for us than for you so read what you like.

New Years Day we took down Christmas and cleaned up the living room. This is what started "The Crazy Woman Cleaning Rampage!" I invited the "neighbors" over for a Wii party that night. We had some munchies and just played until midnight. Having a newborn made it pretty easy to stay up to see the ball drop- those who know me know that I haven't seen that happen very many times! Here's Lettie playing Guitar Hero for the first time.
Our first picture of 2009!
Do we look exhausted or what! As you look through all the following pictures I think we look more tired in every picture! I think I look A-W-F-U-L!!!!
