Cowher Power

Cheeto & "The Jaw"

In case you haven't heard, I got the chance to meet Coach Cowher, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, at an event sponsored by one of the companies whose products we use here at Navigon Financial. I have to admit that I wasn't as star struck as I thought I might be. Not that big a deal. He was a nice guy, looked everybody in the eye, smiled and said "hello" as they shuffled by. He didn't even look annoyed when one lady carried on about how wonderful he was and how excited she was to meet him and on, and on, and on. She also made about three trips back to the autograph line to get more and more stuff signed. Anyway. The end.

Running the Rat Race

Today was one of the craziest days in a while. Cheeto has likes that our bedroom alarm clock is 35 minutes fast. I don't mind it fast - but 35 minutes is a long time! I had to out the door by 8:30 to get to a Orthopedic appointment. I had planned on going the gym at 6am. But I knew then that it was really 5:30am. Knowing this... I talked myself into staying in bed instead of running. However, we still had to get up to get Cade ready for school. The bus picks him up at 6:49am. EARLY!!! Getting ready went relatively smooth. I dropped the Kelson and Analise off at Ashley's then head to my physical therapy appointment. There, I found out that the therapy they have been working with me is for something I don't have. They originally though I had something called adhesive capsulitis or "frozen shoulder." That just means that the muscles all around my shoulder aren't working together to move the shoulder properly. Know they think that it must be something wrong with a nerve. I can't remember the name of it. So know they are going to do a Nerve Conduction test. They say it's a lot like acupuncture but a bit more painful. Sure - whatever! After waiting an extra 40 minutes to be seen by the doctor - this is where we are at now. I'm never a quick fix! I get back to pick up the kids. Analise with painted toes and all. Ashley is awesome! We head to Wal-mart to get Kelson's soccer socks and other errands. We get home at 12:45pm- get lunch, visit with daddy for about 20 minutes, head to get Cade for a dentist appointment. This is where it gets good. So Cheeto's office is literally next door to our dentist. He said he would watch Analise for 30 minutes while I get my teeth cleaned. They first try to do x-rays on Cade's teeth. He gags and says he just can't do it because it hurts. After 3 more gags- we give up. He moves on to his cleaning. Next thing I see is the hygensist who was working with Kelson. She said there was an accident. ACCIDENT! What kind of accident happens while getting your teeth cleaned? Well, evidently both of my boys were gagging at the same time. Just one started throwing up! Yep- Kelson- the one that goes to the dentist with no problems. He said it was because he didn't like the smell of her gloves! I pull his shirt off and clean him up, went back down the hall and get Cade's undershirt off his back for Kelson to wear, take Kelson to the bathroom to further clean him up- and then we try again. He said he was fine. So I got in the room next door and started to get my teeth cleaned. Not 2 minutes later.... she said he started throwing up again. I get up and clean up again. I try calling Cheeto... who I thought was next door. NOPE... he went to Staples with Analise. I asked him to just come and get Kelson and take him home. I get my teeth cleaned and Cade comes in with a good report. However, he is at the age where they can seal his teeth to prevent cavities. She said they could do it right then so we didn't have to come back again. I said fine... poor Cheeto - a 30 minute appointment is now at 1 hour. I ended up having to hold Cade's tongue down and count with the assistant just to get him to cooperate. We should have been charged half price - I did have the work. :) It was 30 minutes later when I relived Cheeto from his babysitting duties. It was after 4:30pm and we were starting homework missed from last night and tonight and dinner at the same time. Kelson is fine. Never would guess he was ever sick! WOW!!! What a day! I told Cheeto he could come home whenver - that was up to him. All the adventure of kids!
